Our 1-day pottery classes last for 2 hours, including introductions, a demonstration, work time, and clean-up.

Each session of our 4-week and 6-week pottery classes lasts 2.5 hours, covering introductions, demonstrations, work time, and clean-up.

1) Introductions 2) Basic demonstration on the potter's wheel 3) Wheel work: each participant gets up to 3 pounds of clay to try their hand at the wheel. The instructor will walk around, answer questions, and provide assistance. 4) Clean-up (15-20 minutes) 5) Record contact information and results on the iPad 6) Finishing your creations: Any of the 3 items you want to keep will be left to firm up, trimmed, initialed, dated, dried out, bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired. 7) Pick-up your finished items: After approximately 4-6 weeks, we will send an email with pick-up instructions. Clean-up is an essential part of the clay-making process. The last 15-20 minutes of the class are dedicated to cleaning your tools and workstation, sweeping, mopping, and putting away tools and equipment. For an additional fee, the instructor can handle the clean-up for you.

Yes, unlimited open studio time is available 9am - 9pm with our 4/6 week courses. Open studio time starts the day of your first class and runs through the course and 6 days after the final glaze class.

Yes, with a $25 daily drop in, you can continue with open studio time.

You must ask the instructor for the Cleaning, Lights, Locks and Security orientation at the end of your class to qualify for this option.

Yes, shipping is an option. Shipping starts at around $30 per person with up to 3 items. Shipping cost increases with # of items and distance of shipping. Items take 4-6 weeks to Set / Trim / Dry / Bisque-fire / Glaze / Glaze-fire. We will send an email when items are ready. It will have a link to fill out a form with shipping info. Since we don't know the size and weight of your items, we don't calculate shipping or take payment for that until they are ready for pick up.

With 7+ days' notice, we offer a full refund or no fee to reschedule. With 3-7 days' notice, it is 50% refundable or a 50% rescheduling fee. With less than 3 days' notice, it is nonrefundable or there is a 75% rescheduling fee. To avoid fees, you can use our standby option. You have one week from your missed class date to complete a make-up session. Check class availability at: https://www.smaartstudio.com/booksmaart. If a spot is available the day before your desired make-up class, request it by contacting us at steve@smaartstudio.com. Make-up classes are subject to space availability confirmed no more than 24 hours prior to the desired class start time. No exceptions.
